Default Key Fob Replacement

I've managed to lose one key fob for my 2013. And, yes, I've checked that pit of missing pocket stuff, the recliner. Three times.

My friendly dealer wants $230 to replace it, $270 if I really want another useless key. That includes a $50 reprogramming fee. I can get replacement fobs online for about half (~$100). Any experience on on-line versus dealer?

I would check local key shops. There is a guy in front of the grocery store and another one at the mall that sell and program keys for less than the dealer and you can check it right there to make sure it works. There are many small key shops here that do them. I am sure you have some in your area or check for local lock smiths online. Can usually save at least $50.

no way a kiosk at the mall will be able to program a VIN specific RAM keyfob? let alone if its a proximity keyfob?

if a mall kiosk has the ability to program VIN specific keys then in theory i could take anybodys VIN and get a key programmed for somebody else truck? there is a reason why they are programmed to a specific truck, if the mall had them i could go get keys for anybodys truck as long as i had their VIN?

your wrong as wrong can be my dude.
there is a reason why they cost so much from Dodge, its a theft prevention thing.. if i could go get keys made for 10$ then there would be 30+ keys for the same truck floating around?

Default key fob & spare key help

I have a 2011 dodge ram 1500 and yesterday I tried to unlock the doors with the key fob and they didn't open so I changed the battery and still didn't wanna open...the truck wasn't dead because I just drove it 5mins before.so I took the spare key that comes out the key fob to manually open the driverside door and that key didn't wanna open it either that key just opened the tailgate....do u have any helpful hints/tip or answers for my problem??

THANK YOUU

dude. nobody is going to help you if your going to continue to flood random forums with the same post.
your post make no sense. if the key was for the truck it would work in all doors and the tailgate. its a key. there is no secret trickery behind it.
your claims that a key will work in the tailgate but not the doors? if the key fob does not work perhaps your trying to open somebody else s truck?

not sure what your trying to accomplish but a key is a key.

Default 13 Ram Keyfob

I just purchased a replacement keyfob for my Ram, can this be programed without the help of the dealership?

I lost one of my keys for my 2013 Ram 1500 Express. I bought a "refurbished" key fob from an eBay seller. It was about $90. I had to get it programmed at a Dodge dealer. That was $50. It has worked fine. Good luck. You'll probably find the one that disappeared the day after you replaced it.

Bought mine online took it to dealer was 60$ to program here is where I got mine from http://www.carandtruckremotes.com No issues at all Dealer tries to scare you into thinking that you'll get junk online and that they have a low success rate of reprogramming them. Don't fall for it =)
