Default 2009 Dodge

I had the ring and pinion and rear diff replaced on my 2009 Dodge 3500, and the dealership that did it did not get the plug on the housing cover tight and it came out I lost most of the fluid out of it and was pulling a 34 ft horse trailer loaded with horses. Got towed to a dealership and of course they didn't have all the parts to get me back on the road they did replace the rear diff gears but the ring and pinion needed replaced also so I drove it to my destination and took it to another dealership and they didn't have the dodge parts and it would be 7 days before they could get them so they replaced the ring and pinion and rear diff with after market parts and the pickup is still very noisy but you dont hear the noise until you get to about 25 to 30 MPH, it's driving fine just very noisy, the tech that put it in said that it was set right and the only thing that they could do is to put the dodge parts in it when they got them 5 days from when they order them!! I couldn't wait that long, What would cause the noise and why would after market parts be different than dodge parts and what should I do? This has cost me 4000.00 so far and the original dealership that messed it up is not willing to do anything about it I am living in Texas now and the original work was done in Cheyenne Wyoming 2 months ago.

I can't be positive, but the only time I've heard noise from a rear was when the lash between the two gears weren't set up properly. There might be other possibilities that I haven't experienced though.

My guess, if it's true (big if) the lash, preloads, pinion depth are all good.
The excessive heat due to loss of fluid has caused a tooth or a few teeth to chip or distort.
Nothing wrong with quality aftermarket gears. Only thing with aft market is if one is not careful in knowing what they are buying they will be noisier than oem.
