Lightbulb Supercharge the 09 Hemi?

Hey all. Been looking at possibly putting in a supercharger into the hemi now that warranty is all done. The two companies I have been looking at is RIPP and Procharger. I'm wondering if anyone has dared to do this as both claim their product is 'safe' to use with stock trans. Any thoughts?

I'd be more worried about getting it tuned properly so not to rattle the stock pistons. I spray a lot of nitrous and have no problem with stock 545RFE. I do run the Sonnax line pressure booster. I would talk to the guys at SharaDon for anything more to the transmission, check out their valve body upgrades. Talk to (hemifever) as far as tweaking the tune. I ran a Tacoma for 140,000 miles with an untuned motor, lucky, the hemis are tunable.

Have a look at BlackHemiRam's and my builds. He uses the Ripp and I run a highly modified Procharger setup. Both of use have needed to upgrade our transmissions but he's also running the stage II RIPP, which is no longer available, and I'm pushing 600rwhp with my procharger. We are both running the L&M transmission, and so far it's holding up nicely behind mine and BRH's did burn out a clutch pack but he was also running it without Mike's tuning package since Mike's been fighting with RIPP as they lock their tunes.

Depending on where you are in AB, but you can look at Davenport to install/tune or do the install yourself and have Davenport or CCMR in Stony Plain do the fine tuning.

The magnuson isn't bad 6 lbs of boost with no boostapump. dyno tuned to about 400 rwhp, very modest 11.5 degrees of timing on stock bottom end. Could get more out of that if I wanted to add timing or lean it out a little more, but it is a daily driver. The 545 is rounding off a bit and probably needs some help at this point. never had any belt problems or engine problems. I am about to turn it into a 392, which means the tranny will definitely need some help as I pulley up the blower to make use of the new hard parts and cubes.

Thanks for the info guys. While looking into it, I now have transmission issues. So that idea is a back burner at this point. Transmission is stuck in 4th. Throwing a solenoid code. I have started another thread on this issue. I hope its not that big of an issue, but if it is, I was quoted $8700 for a new from factory transmission. Ouch haha.

Mike at L&M Customs charges $2500 for a boost proof built 545RFE
(+$500 if you prefer to keep your trans and buy a core from him)

I pushing 500WHP, Ripp Stage III Vortech V3, 8psi boost at 5800rpm
Spraying water/meth that's triggered when Boost hits about 4psi
to help keep my pistons happy

Racing it in 4WD 4-Auto on Four 28" Mickey Thompson Drag Radials, ATS Triple Lok 3000 stall torque converter...

There's at least 3 of us in Edmonton running virtually the same setup.

even on my heavy street set (305/50R20 Terra Grapplers on stock 20's)
I'm rippin shit up BAD!, destroying muscle cars at will with 4WD Full throttle launch

Damn near in the 3's 0-60

Thanks BlackRamHemi. I will probably look into this now that my transmission is on the fritz! You have a nice setup from the sounds of it. Looks real nice. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. You as well CdnoilRAM. Appreciate the insight!

There is no need to buy a new transmission, especially for that price. The L&M option is a good starting point if you want to run boost in the future; you can have yours rebuilt; or you can buy a rebuilt one. My brother's '05 trans finally crapped out last week and he just picked up a rebuilt from Chrysler at cost since he works for them.

what do they do the the l & m? add clutches, up the valve body pressure? the switch to second prime seems to the the weak link in these transmissions.

Machine the carriers for more clutches, rework the valve body, up the line pressure, but the most important is the custom transmission tuning that he does for it, that's the real important stuff.
