Question 1989 W150 transmission shift points too high

Hello - - I have a 1989 Dodge W150 Sno-Commander 4x4 with 318 and auto trans; everything is working great on the truck except that the shift points tend to be fairly high, won't shift into 3rd until about 35 - 40 mph. Would a bad speedometer cable have anything to do with that? It works just the opposite of what you would expect, the harder I accelerate it, the quicker it shifts. Taking it real easy on it, the shift points tend to be higher. Any recommendations to get the shift points a bit lower? Lance, Rockford, IL.

No, the speedo cable isn't the issue. I'd start with the throttle kickdown setting. Sounds like a valve body issue. Has it been serviced recently?
