So what is this "Hemi Tick" you guys are talking about? I hear some knocking/tapping coming from the engine at times. The Wrench head in me does not deem this as a good noise. But I do have a lifetime powertrain warranty so........

The tick is not valvetrain noise, so it is not a design flaw. The HEMIs have had the tick from day one and I've heard any number of theories about what it is, but people have had their engines in for 'valvetrain noise' and nothing is ever found.

We were told by our instrustors that the tick is from the lifters. Due to the design of the oiling system the lifters are the last thing to get oil. The oil has to go up through the head, through the rockers, through the push rods and the down throught the lifters. Normally it would start at the lifter. That's just what I have been told by the chrysler instructors.
