I know that there are several things that were done to my trans during the last rebuild . From what I was told , these trans don't circulate fluid through the cooler when in park . Thats why alot of Police cars trans burn up . Sitting , idling for a period of time while filling out their reports . Also there is a check valve in the trans cooler line that several trans shops told me to remove . That is there to prevent drain back issues . But they have problems with them getting stuck and not letting the fluid through to be cooled . There are several tricks that are done in the valve body , but they get pretty in depth . I know all the updates in this trans kit were installed in my trans . So far so good . I believe the kit was made by Transgo .

I have heard similar findings on this matter too - which could be the problem. I wonder if I can remove the check valve by just taking off the pan? I don't know exactly where it is yet... I will have to do some research I guess. How much did your rebuild cost?

My regular rebuilder was out of town after having surgery . Went with someone who a friend recommended . He got in my pocket pretty good . I did the removal and reinstall and he charged me $1800.00 The check valve is in the trans cooler lines , right by the lower radiator hose . It has a spring in there also . I removed all of it .

OUch! that is pretty spendy since you did a lot of the work. If i remove it, is there any downside? I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow, maybe I can find a diagram somewhere.

I was looking at monster trans in Dec. They have 'em for $1695 and I think free shipping but Im not positive on that. $700 core. I had a pan full of $*#t so bad the filter was plugged. Even a piece (chunk) of the case 1/2 the length of your thumb with threads inside of it. Put new filter and 7 qt. dex-4 in and good to go. It's just a rusted 'ol farm/plow truck thou. If you lift your foot off the gas will it upshift for you? Obviously it doesn't have a tach, right? If the fan clutch is bad, think about electric. For not much more or about the same $$$ you could mount up electric fans. You'd lose all the fan sound and get prob.3-4 MPG and 15 free HP. I don't think they are more than #159 and real ease to install. Cheapest MPG/HP you can buy.
