Could just be wet/cold pads. I've had a few vehicles that exhibited this type of behavior (current '08 300C does on occasion). Be sure to test them when first driving and ride the brakes for a very short distance at low speed. Won't take long to dry/heat the pads.

An upgrade to a better quality pad would probably fix it.

How long does it sit after washing? Long enough to develop a light coat of rust on the rotors? It doesn't take long under the right conditions and it would act as a lubricant until the first stop cleans them.

Default Braking Issues

Update - I recently got my vehicle back from the local dealership. They replaced a faulty wheel speed sensor.

On 3 occasions to date I have taken the vehicle and thoroughly rinsed down the wheels and brakes and left the vehicle parked overnight.

So far I have not experienced the severe loss of braking when I first move the vehicle.

Hopefully this is the fix. As a point of interest the vehicle was acting up for quite a while (2 months) before I had the ABS/Serv 4WD warning light activate on the instrument panel.

I will keep you all posted if I have any further issues with the brakes.

Thanks,

Steve.

HI

I am from New Brunswick Canada and I just bought a new ram 3 weeks ago w/Hemi quad cab SLT w/plus Package 20" wheel aluminium rims with exposed rotors and we have experience up to -15 degree Celsius weather since I bought my truck and I have also taken my truck for a pressure wash when it was in the minus temperatures and I didn't experienced what you did and I hope I never do or you either for that matter cause like you said it must be one heck of a scary feeling, but then again I didn't have to do any panic stops, I hope the dealer cleared your problems for you cause it's definitely wasn't normal.

Just a quick question, how did you decide on EBC pads and rotors. I am taking delivery of my new RAM 1500 Quad sport soon and was thinking of at some point replacing the factory rotors and pads. Are these the best choice ? And does this mod effect any of the electronic systems ?
