Default Addin a Tacho cluster

Ok, can a mod remove my other cluster/tacho thread from this section, because my understanding has changed and so has my question.

My question now is; can I change my non-Tacho OEM cluster for an OEM Cluster WITH a Tacho and just plug the tacho part in? Or will I have to add wire/extra stuff to have a tacho (Rev Counter)?

(It's a 99 Ram 1500 318 ST)

Don't have an answer to your question but I did take care of that other thread for ya.

Seems to me you can plug in the updated cluster and get your tach signal wire plugged in and yer good but I'm not sure.

Ya according to the haines manual the tacho feed comes from the power control module, but just don't know if that wire is there and ready to go if the truck wasn't fitted with a tacho. Guess I can always take a look (when I'm recovered from my op) and see if I can trace it.

Though when I install the alarm and such a lot of the dash is coming out for wiring, so I'll have a look at the back of the cluster and see if there's a spare cable there.

Yup that's what I have now. I've always driven cars and never had a vehicle without a tacho...and I miss seeing a tacho lol I want a tacho damnit.....though I don't want to add a standalone tacho pod cause extra gauges are a little too boy racer-ish for my tastes.

Well that is a damn big gas guage haha. Why not get an aftermarket big RPM guage haha, with the red shift light. You can be like all those Honda Civics, dosnt everyone wanna be like them?? haha just joking.

Well I am sure you can do it, just gotta do some wiring
