Talking I Get To Play "What's That Noise?"

So I've been having a bit of a drivetrain vibration issue. I thought it was tires in the rear but after swapping the rear tires to the front still having the vibration, I was stumped.

Well, today on my way home I had the windows down and I heard this noise that seems to be tied to vehicle speed...slow down and it slows down, speed up and it speeds up. And, when stopping, I hear this "thrum, thrum, thrum". Hard to locate while inside the truck.

So, off to the dealer I go tomorrow to play, "What's That Noise" with my service advisor, who's great to deal with by the way.

Wish me luck...because I have a LONG road trip to begin on the 18TH!!!!

It's a great game to play, but I always get the wrong prize door at the end. Good luck with finding the problem

If it changes with the speed yer goin, my guess would be wheel bearing or something in your breaks. Let us know what it turns out to be once you find the culprit~

Wheel bearing, brakes or u-joint. That is where I would start searching.

<sarcasm>
That's one of my all time favorite games!

I'm playing that right now with my truck too. I can't tell if its my intake tube or a ball joint because I can't ride under the hood while I drive.

Yeah, I feel your pain! I have a hellacious wind noise coming from both doors, in the upper door frame. Tried moving the frame, but no luck. Hope I don't have to take it to a body shop to fix it. But, I have nothing in the truck, so not too much of a worry. BTW, it is a '98 SLT Laramie.

Two problems diagnosed...driveline carrier bearing and a dragging caliper, both of which could have contributed. All fixed!!!
