Yes, get one. They work when idiots go behind you when they see your backing! Be sure to get at least 120 degree view, any smaller and your blind on the corners.

I don't use 'em and I don't like 'em. You don't see guys driving Kenworths or Freightliners with backup cameras. If you're not familiar with your truck's dimensions then you should be driving a compact car. I can back up either of my trucks to the either of my trailers usually on the first shot. It just takes practise, and you should always do a quick walk around if you're unsure about the area you're backing into.

I've only used one once, as my FIL has one in his Yukon. It looked like one of those toys that is nice if you've got it, but not so sure it's something that I'd go out and purchase.

The Expedition that I had, had the beeper back up sensors. It came with the truck, and when I bought the truck I thought it would be a useless option, but I found that I really liked it when I got used to using it. It allowed me to back up far enough without worrying about running into anything, be it a wall, another vehicle, or even a pole. Was really good when parallel parking.

I'd say if you want the camera, go for it. Look around before you purchase. I'm sure that there are some out there that you can use with your head unit, and just not use the included monitor. There might even be one that is made by the same manufacturer as your head unit that'll hook right up

Good Luck

Exco

I like mine and anything that makes it safer to backout can't hurt. All it takes is for some little booger picker to run out behind your truck while you are being a tough guy and run his butt over. But officer, I was being a man, it's the kids fault!

Ok, I'm a little on the fence.

If you need a cam to help you reverse and park because you cannot judge the size and spacial relation of your truck to your environment, then you shouldn't be bloody driving lol That said........they are handy for making sure old granny bobbins or little kitty fu fu hasn't just stepped out behind your truck.

And they ARE a really cool gadget!!!

I think modern cars have too many gadgets that cover people's poor driving skills, they should spend more time making driving laws regarding skill sets tougher and less time on gadgets

But from a nerdy point of view..I say go for it, I think they're awesome lol

I have the Backup camera mounted in the tailgate handle & as long as you don't expect it to be perfect, its just an another useful tool, i use the 2 outside & the windshield mounted mirrors to back up, i also have the bumper sensors that let me know when i'm 18 inches from a obstruction with a steady alarm
the camera from Dodge is about as good as those mirrors that read objects may be closer than they appear, only when something in the dodge back up camera appears to be 6 feet away, your 6 inches away. the nice thing about my camera is that it has wonderful night vision
the camera is in the tailgate latch, left side, tailgate lock is on the right side

I`ve seen them at Wal-mart. If you want one get it. Don`t worry about what some of these guys think. Can never hurt to have an extra set of eyes when backing up. A little kid could run out behind you in a blink of an eye.

I have to say that they are worth it! I used to drive a Taho with the back up camera and it is great when your in tight spaces. Also like it was said for trailers it is key. I used it for that and lined it up perfect by myself. I say it is great to have!!

Backup sensors were so much better for me. Last truck had sensors alarms - sweet, never ever backed into anything. New truck has camera and (I swear) I backed into 3 things already in 4 months. Thank God lightly but I am paranoid everytime now when I backup. I have to stare at the screen and not look anywhere else which I want to do. For me, my experience is clear. Buying the sensors today before I hit something else. lol
