Default 99 3.9L intermittent problem on hot start only

I have a 99 3.9L, always runs great when starting cold ( morning, after sitting a couple hours, etc). If shut off and restarted within an hour or 2, about 1 time in 4, she will have NO acceleration, top speed of 3 to 5 miles per hour even with the "foot to the floor" and heavy backfire. NO Check Engine Light, No codes showing on tester. Dropping the trans into neutral and racing the engine hard once or twice clears the problem, will run great until shut off and restarted hot again. Have tried general tuneup plugs wires rotor cap filters, cam sensor, no difference. Help

Often this is not apparant as you idle across a parking lot, until you try to accelerate out into traffic. One day I'm going to get clobbered pulling into traffic with no acceleration and no time for the drop into neatral fix (that always works, but takes time). Some days I can go all day, numerous stops, no problem. Other days it is everytime I stop. Ussually intermittent with no warning. Feels like a very lean backfire condition. Never stalls.

Sounds like maybe a MAP sensor or a vacuum line going to it. Wiring and the PCM are aclso possibilities.
