Default exhaust help

i have a 99 ram 2500 was wondering if adding a catback dual exhaust would really make a difference. have the superchips on order along with cai. would it help or lower my torque? i've heard something about back pressure? any help would be great.

You can do dual if you like the way it looks. Sound should be around the same whether you do dual or single. Sound depends most on what muffler you are running. You can get increased sound and performance by adding highflow cats and a y pipes or headers. You can do all three for highest performance gains. You shouldn't lose low end torque unless you lose lot's of backpressure so I wouldn't go any bigger than 3" diameter exhaust. As far as brands I would go with magnaflow (not because thats what I have but they are one of the best in the industry) although mbrp & banks make good mufflers too. Flowmaster and gibson are okay but it's mostly a matter of personal opinon, All of them make good systems. You can make a system as well by selecting a high quality muffler and tubing and a tip. Any muffler shop can do this although if done incorrectly (non mandrel or excessive bends) you will not see great of a gain as you would with a prebent/manufactured system

Just don't go too big with the pipe size (stay within 3/8" of stock size) and use a crossover pipe. That way you won't lose all your back pressure. You do need some to maintain low end torque.

Yes, you can use those headers and cat with the magnaflow catback. You may have to weld on a different flange at the header end to bolt it up to the cat.

You can run different brand headers and exhaust (most company's specialize in one or the other) I would go for a set of jba headers in either ceramic or ti coat for the 5.9L although banks is good too. I would also run a y pipe with a hiflow cat and mufler & you will have an awesome system.
