Default SLT 2500 vs Power Wagon

Ok so I no the obvious differnce between the two, the big question is, is there a difference in the trasnmission....would that explain why you can't get the 4.56 gear in the 2500 slt hemi, or even the trx....

The G56 manual and 68RFE auto are the only two transmissions available behind the 6.7 CTD.

The rear end is the 9.25 that's been used forever and the front is the C205FD.

I thought you can get the new Aisin tranny for the Cummins. In my '08 Ram 3500 Cummins I have the 65RFE. I don't know which is more reliable but I've already had problems with mine. My dealer never mentioned that you can get a manual with the Cummins engine.

I think the answer I want to know is why is it that you can't get 4.56 gearing in anything but the powerwagon.....why cant you get the 4.56 in just a regular straight off the lot ram 2500 with a hemi....I know that you cant get a manual with the hemi, my question is more for axle gearing....

I understand that the power wagon is set up for off road, that is why you get front and rear lockers and winch, disconect sway bar for articulation....I know about off road and what keeps you going....all I want to know is why dodge engineers do not put the 4.56 gear in the ram slt 5.7....is it because it will hurt gas milage, top speed....or a cost factor, dont know how the cost would affect it but who knows......

I think they do it, so that you'll have to buy the PW... I don't imagine that they're real hot sellers (compared to different versions of the Ram sold)
