Default First Oil Change Complete

Paranoia set in and I just wanted to get Mobil1 in the HEMI. I was just shy of 5000 mi and still no oil change message. Did the service reset from the user guide, but had no indication that it reset. Is that normal?

I asked the same question about the service reset a while back. Everybody said if you did the reset it works. I would like to know if I did it right though.

Vehicles I've had in the past you were able to tell if you reset it or not. O well.

Oil change light for my 6 week old truck came on at 2300 miles. What gives with that? I drive 60 miles round trip to work...all highway. Service manager sau=id it had to do with a lot of short trips and a lot of engine starts. I don't do either! I think he doesn't know what he's talking about. I guess I'll have to wait until the next one to see what happens.

I tend to agree with that as well. I was told not to let it go over 10 000Kms between oil changes even if the light does not come on. The only funny thing is that my manual says change every 10 000. So what gives with that?

That is what the warning is based off though, your driving. Short trips and frequent starts shorten the cycle. Other than work, what kind of driving do you do? Although during the week you have a decent commute, there could be other things at play.

It could be just your first oil change too though. If this is regularly happening that early there is probably a problem with something

Common sense > Computer logic though.

IT comes on early to allow you time to take it in before its too late.
