Talking Exhaust Help!

Hey all,
In the next couple of weeks i plan on getting a new exhaust setup for my stock 99 ram 1500. It has a 5.9L v8 engine in it. I've been looking around to see what would be the best setup for the truck which would give me the best performance.

I would like to get a magnaflow CAT plus a magnaflow muffler(s) as well.

What my question is is that should i get an X-pipe, H-Pipe, or a Y-Pipe setup or just straight pipes? ive been told that a Y-pipe would be just fine but i just wanna make sure.

Any information on this would hep.

thanks a lot!

Right now I have a cat-back exhaust, I believe with a Y, but not sure. It has magnaflow tips on it and its pretty mean sounding. No muffler

I prefer true duals with siamesed pipes (pretty much the same as an X setup).

The Y pipe takes two pipes from the manifolds and puts them into one pipe. So if you are going to go with a dual setup, you won't use a Y pipe, you'll use an X pipe.

Yes, but it's not true duals. If all you want is the look of dual exhaust, that's fine.

If you want the true duals then you want an X-pipe or to run duals straight out you can use an H-pipe just to equalize bank pressure.

yeah ive heard that the x pipe and h pipe gives you the best performance and i would really like to get an x pipe setup but some say i would have to get a custom fit cause its a really tight fit underneath. couldnt i just buy a regular x pipe from magnaflow or do i have to have one made?

If you want to make true duals then you will want to go with a X pipe. The Y pipe brings two pipes into one to the muffler. I would do X for true duals and then a Y if you want one mufler with two exits
