Default What should i do?

Let's start out. I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi 4x4. Recently for the past month or so i have been noticing a coolant leak. I didn't have time till yesterday to take it to a shop and be checked over to see what it was or what was causing it to leak. I made sure all the coolant levels were good everyday, so damage was done. I took it to the shop yesterday, and here it is something to do with the timing cover leaking So in other words they would have to take apart the hole front half of the motor to fix it, along with replacing a few others like the water pump, and thermostat. Its going to be like an $700.00 - $900.00 job to fix it. Unfortunately my warranty is up, its been up since 36k since i bought the truck used. I'm looking for some ideas. (1) Show i suck it up, pay the 7-9 hundred bucks to fix it? (2) Go to the dealership where i bought it from, and see if i can get an extended warranty? (3) Trade the thing in, and get a new truck? I'm looking for honestly and most realistic ideas. Let me know what you guys think? Thanks Andrew. H

I've never seen a Hemi leak anywhere other than the water pump weep hole. Get a second opinion first.

Fix it but get a second opinion first.

Your truck is worth the repair!

I had a coolant leak once. The t-stat seal blew out and allowed it to leak at random. Was strange as it didnt do it all the time. The seal just had a small flat spot on it that was allowing it to leak. Changed the t-stat and it went away. could try that.

I hear you on that. That's the thing it only leaks like a river when i first start it up. Once it warms up, it doesn't leak at all. Only when the first start happens.
