ya and any ways youll see that if you let the truck idle for a period of time the idle will go up to 1200rpm by its self this is because it takes so little fuel to run a cummins at idle dont ask why but the pistons can actually shrink so after a minute or two the ecu will automatically increase idle speed

you co workers right about the cruise controll thing except you do it in park not neutral , i do it all the time on my truck to warm it up in -30 and colder ( 06 cummins 3500) start your truck and then press teh cruise button , then set , then accel and you ran raise the idle to 1700rpm its a stock feature so you can run a PTO

I don't know about yours, but my 2004 idles up after about 2-3 minutes. The transmission is not even in play in park and idling. I know the fluid is moving around warming up and pressurizing, but the torque converter is not doing anything as there is no torque being applied with the tranny in park. Air cooled converter? Hmmmmm..... Sounds like your buddy is mis-informed.

Now, about those muffler bearings I have for sale. I think they will fit your diesel and make it idle. ??
