Default Extended Cab doors Stuck

98 Ram 1500 and I can't open the rear doors. Ive' taken the panel out, sprayed PB blaster on the mechanism at the base of the door. The latch moves out of the way but the door won't open. The top is clear. The door moves but won't unlatch at the bottom. This happened to one door and then the other in a week. Very frustrated!!!!! By the way....newbie here also. Said Hi in the Newbie area. HELP!

I have heard of this becoming a very common problem with trucks in colder climates.

I had this problem as well with the ram I just bought, Only thing is I know my drivers side latch is busted, but my passenger side wouldnt open. So I soaked down the latches with pb blaster and let is sit for a few minutes. After that I got in the back of the truck with the seat up and gave it a couple of hip checks while holding the latch...The door didnt stand a chance. The latch basically rusted itself on to the latch.

Now just to fix the drivers door.

Default Rear Quad Door Stuck Shut

Has anyone found a sure cure for the rear doors becoming stuck at bottom latch?

I have dismantled the door and manually tried to pull up on latch arm ... no luck. Tried the put my weight into it trick ... did not work.

Any suggestions??

Thanks All

Hey folks ... I finally did get my rear doors open! Soaked the bottom latches overnight with a good penetrating oil and then placed a wooden block at the base of the door on the inside. While holding open the handle, A good solid whack to the wooden block with a small sledge hammer ... and it opened! It appears that the bottom latches rust pretty good and seize up without much use. Passenger side works like a dream but driver's side latch will have to be replaced as it's too far gone. Hope this helps someone out.
Thanks ... Billy

Mine do the same, but it doesnt bug me much.
I just have to apply some pressure and push the door in, than pull the latch. It works everytime
