Default road armor VS homemade bumpers

I was recently close to buying a road armor front bumper for my ram, until a buddy of mine who is a welder and metal fabricator, said he could make a similar one for under $100. He said he could even make a spot for a winch and tow hooks. Sure will be a HUGE money saver. Those road armor bumoer go for almost $2000...

Anyone have a road armor bumper? How about a home made bumper?

I tried to talk my dealer out of one he took in on a trade. They were stripping this Ram of propane kit and BD tuner. Asked me if I wanted it, I said "no but I'd like the Road Armor Bumper and Hydro-Static winch!".....needless to say he wouldn't sell it. He wanted over $500 just for taking it off the other Ram and switching my front bumper to the trade in. I tried everything I could....told him I'd go turn wrenches with my buddy in the back to take it off and apply it to my truck....he wouldn't bite.

I've seen a few around here and it really depends on how good the fabricator is. But I agree, you can save big bucks if you know someone who can do the work.

I love RoadArmor, but I'm not a fan of the price. For the price they want for RoadArmor, you could be half way to a supercharger!
