Default Uneven idle

Anybody run into an uneven idle problem with their 5.9's? I've had a problem for a couple of months now with my 2000 Sport QC 5.9L auto trans. The idle is uneven, like the engine is searching for the right RPM. This comes and goes with no consistency, sometimes cold, sometimes after its warmed up, sometimes not at all with a beautiful steady idle. Then the next day the problem will be back. Engine always runs smoothly under acceleration and under power, just this weird search for an even idle. Was thinking it was maybe a vacuum leak, but I just cant find one, maybe its the throttle postion sensor? Can anybody shed any light?

Only mods to the motor is a cold air kit which has been on for 2 years. I have taken that off and inspected it for leaks and reinstalled. Didn't solve the prob.

I have no, none, nada experience with the 5.9....but it's a engine like the rest of them. I'd start by checking the following -
Air Filter
Spark plug / wires
Throttle body for cleanliness
O2 sensor
Manifold leaks

Does it happen to throw any codes ?
