Default CAI + Exhaust differences (06 hemi)

This is probably going to be the first mod i do to my new ram, well not new, just new to me

I have the mds and im looking into the exhaust issue, but was wondering what other people have done as for intake and exhaust combinations

i know that an intake doesnt really do anything as for performance, so why would i be inclined to spend 300 on a name brand one when i can get one off ebay for like half the price?

as for exhaust ive heard alot of people run the flowmasters, but if you have mds you really hear it kick in if you have the flowmasters

any other input people could give me would be great!

btw, not looking for a high hp truck or anything special, thats what my car is for

just modding for personal preferance, i like a deep sounding truck, and if i can gain some mpg, great

An increase of intake air volume does make a difference if you have a way to move the air through the entire system. Intake and exhaust combined do make a difference.

Lots of CAI's out there to choose from. I personally like the AFE and Volant kits.

I have a S&B cai and i have flowmaster super 40 series. The intake helps a lot and as far as the mds it does not really bother me it actually sounds pretty mean when it kicks in with the dumped flowmaster!

lotsa intakes to pick from..as long as it does away with the hemi hat it should be good. as for catback systems or mufflers, keep one of the resos on (I've seen people keep the front one and remove the rear reso). For muffler itself, based on experience with both flowmaster (50's) and magnaflows...go with magnaflows. I gained considerably on the track when i switched from flows to mags (and I assumed there wasn't going to be that much difference)... I prefer to have mine dumped after axle, this eliminates the drone as well as keep the in cab noise low.

the quickest I've ever run with flows at the track was 13.71...as soon as I changed to mags I dropped .2 an then with other mods was able to get down to 13.0x
