Default Do 275-60-20's work in sand ?

Just got a 2010 1500 and it came with the 275-60-20's. I like to go beach riding on Cape Cod and was wondering if you can air these down to 12lbs to run them on the sand. Are they too low profile? I had a 2001, 2500 with 265-75-16's that was awesome in deep beach sand, never boged down or got stuck.

Thanks
Mark

A 60 profile has plenty of sidewall. I'd experiment with the pressure, though. 12 pounds sounds right for a taller tire (70 series and up) but you may not want to go that far. Try airing down to 12 pounds on a flat surface and see if your wheel lip is too close to the ground.

Ya i'm thinking 12 will be a little low on the tires, try maybe 15-20 range!! i think that will work a lot better!! but the tires are not that low profile!

I will give that a try. They just seem low profile to me compared to the 70 and 75 series on 16" rims with more sidewall.
