Red face Lost when it....

it comes to late model vehicles and performance parts. I have had my 05 RAM 1500 since 05. I got her new. Its got the 5.7 in her with 57,000 miles on it. Since I got my truck I have had a few street/streep muscle cars that has had my complete attention over the years with the thought of once I was finished with those projects i would pay more attention on increasing the performance on my truck. That day is here now & the first thing I would like to do is start out with a new exhaust systems. I would like to put a set of headers on it but really dont know where to start (unless headers are not reccomended) as far as brands. I dont like to buy things twice do to trial and error. So if anyone could lead me in the right direction that would be great. From the headers on back I would like to replace. I am looking for overall performance and sound you just dont get sick of. I have always had flowmaster systems on my cars and loved the super 40s. Would the 40 series be an option and if so has anyone heard em in a 5.7 hemi? Loud is good.

From there I would like to add some boost. I am very familiar with nitrous systems but have no clue what to look for in a super or pro charger for a 05 5.7.

Also, how much can of a hspwr gain can I expect to be able to get with out having to swap out heads and cam. Relying just on bolt on mods including superchargers?

Anyway, any input on a great exhaust systems would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the novel and thank you for taking the time to read it. Thanks

Well i got a flowmaster on my truck!! but i also don't have a full exhuast just cat back!! sounds pretty mean when i get on it, think its a 44 or 40 not sure....was on it when i got the truck!! CAI is a good choice if your looking for more power, simple bolt on! Programmer..many people will point you towards the diablo sport! As for headers there are many threads on them, not sure which ones to recommend you put on but a lot of people seem to do it! so i can say there will be no ill effects just more power gains Also not to familiar with supercharging the engines but i know there is a few bolt on ready made kits you can pick up that are for stock rams i believe, but if your doing that then maybe cam the truck too!

hope this helps you out a bit...lots of info on the forums for each specific thing you want to do!

Sounds like you got it all planed out! Those are some sweet mods that you are planning on doing!

Procharger does make a kit for the Hemi. It claims to add 45-50% more power over stock. Usually Procharger kits will work with the stock set up, just with lower boost. When you do upgrade the internals you will be able to get way more out of it!

Exhaust wise I have a Gibson cat back system on my 07 and I love it. It is pretty loud which is great! I hear the Gibson Super Truck Series exhausts are very loud! That exhaust exits out the passenger side before the rear tire. This exhaust is supposed to be really loud!

As for headers I would look at Dynatech! They make very good headers! Go with long tube headers since thats where the power is, and Dynatechs are! Their kits come with the high flow cats and Y pipe. I a not sure if they make them for your year truck but they do mak them for 07 so I am sure they do.

If you want nitrous then look at Zex. They make a kit specifically for the Hemi which makes it easy to install.

if you like a flowmaster then maybe that's what you should run, but with experience with them I can tell you my truck performed better when I removed them and put magnaflows on...if you look at the really fast na stockblock qc's..none of us are runnin flows... as for headers, get coated lt's...the good brands are dynatechs an kooks, im runnin coated pacesetters and they do the job sufficiently at a fraction of the cost of the aforementioned. I did my setup kinda different then most by doin an almost true dual setup, 3" piping from the collectors thru gutted cats, thru 3" cutouts to a 3" dual in/3.5" single out dumped after axle...I went the single out exit to regain any scavenging I might have lost with the larger piping but wanted the larger piping for the wot responsiveness, especially with a big valve head setup...also have an H pipe where the y pipe would have been...
