I got home and just finished putting the Edge in the truck and went for a spin - really, a spin. By seat of the pants it was really noticeable in the extreme mode which is Level 4. I was hoping I could just change the Level on the fly but the truck had to be shut off and put the key in the on position then I could change the Level real easy. It was as simple as plug and play device. It only took about ten minutes for upload and programming of the PCM. I have a lot of testing and playing to do but initial impression is it was money well spent, but any money that nets more hp is money well spent. One of the main reasons I got it was to place it in towing mode (Level 2) for torque when I haul the 26' Toy Hauler travel trailer. I now have it on Level 3 (Race) and will check it out for a few days since that is likely the level I will use in the city. Level 1 is economy and I will likely use that on the Interstate. Seems like this one is going to be a little fun. I will also be able to check my 0 - 60 time and the 1/4 mile times using the Edge. More testing to come.

The Edge is not changeable on the fly. The truck must be shut off and start the process the same each time by key to the on position and then change the program level. Granted it doesn't take long but you need to be parked somewhere safe of course since it seems like it takes a few minutes. I will have to time it as to how long it takes. In any case, I am still having fun with it.

Also interested in hearing more results. I'm playing with a Cortex now.

As the ECU 'learns' from your driving habits, I assume the programming will need to be installed for a certain amount of time before it becomes 100% effective. (To a point)

Perhaps a few cycles?

From the feel of the truck I would think the ECU is instant since it writes to the PCM as it is being programmed.

I'm sure a lot of it is 'instant' but I guess what I'm trying to say is switching tunes for a day or so may not reap the full benefits of an 'established' tune

Thanks HoustonHemi but I have not found anyone that will hard tune my PCM like I have on all my Chevy's. I would send them my PCM and they would send me a loaner PCM until mine was done. This is the first time I have had to get my own programmer.

Too bad you can't change tunes on the fly but it sounds like a good product!

The learning adaptives of the MOPAR PCM may not be operating with the Edge over write to install the program. If that's the case, and I'm not sure if it is, then "learning" a new tune may be a non-issue.

The firms that produce these tools tend to go about it in different ways but eventually touch most of the same PID's in the stock program.

Keep us updated on how it's going!

Yep.

My SC tuner is pre-programmed with a mpg, a towing, a 87 performance, and a 91 performance tune. No 'custom' tuning available. (Trans feature is a $40 option)

Diablo is similar, but will also allow you to custom tune. No trans option
