Sorry but having a little trouble understanding that tire size configuration for that truck. I have the sam truck, I think, and am runningP275/60R20s; which I believe is a 33" tire. I am not sure what the stock rear ratio would be, but I went with a 3.92 and am very pleased with the performance, pulling power and gas mileage.

K, you're looking at a 34" overall diameter (tire + rim), so check this link out and it's got a good amount of info for RPM, and gear ratios

http://www.iwerearendsonly.com/docs/..._rpm_chart.pdf

now, for a 34" tire I'd look at 3.92s; as well, if you want more get-up-and-go and don't mind sacrificing fuel economy you can more up to 4.10s

You didn't say what you currently have but based on your 34" tire I'd go with the 4.10s. It's only an 80 RPM difference at 70 mph when comparing the 3.92 to the 4.10.

thank you all for the input, yes i do have the 3.92 stock gear ratio at the time, and let me correct this mistake, i currently have 28 inch rims on it havent measured the overall height of tire or width) the tire size is 295-25-r28, im not real good at determinig what gear ratio i need for which i also want to install airbags, not for load but front and back to lower it, not sure if the bagging will make a difference for the gears, but thats my question, determining what gears i should use with the setup i have, all i really know is that when you go big on wheels, lower or lift a vehicle you must re-gear it, or i might just be breaking my head and not need it if i already have the 3.92, but thankx again ramforumz family

unless you have some crazy type of custom wheels, i believe that you made a mistake

the largest wheel that comes from the dealership, is the 20" wheel, even on the Dodge Chassis CABs 3500, 4500, 5500 models, & the Rams are only 1500 & 2500 models & possibly some 3500
you can get an aftermarket wheel that i have seen that is 28", but, they were 8 lug

bagging, raising, & lowering will add some amount of weight, but, your rear end should be just fine

I remember a short while back when you posted a thread about your new 28s. Based off the above tire size you have a 34" overall diameter wheel/tire setup. If you have 3.92s I don't think you need anymore gear unless you are wanting more get-up and go from light to light.

Going from 3.92s to 4.10s would be a waste of money so you'd want to step up to 4.56s...otherwise you won't even notice the change.

Here is a website to calculate your rpm based off tire size. At the bottom of the page is the tire height calculator. Plug in your info (295/25-28) and you get 33.81".

http://www.ringpinion.com/Calc_RPM.aspx

Next use the calculator above that titled "for specific transmission ratio" to find your rpm based off whatever speed you pick. Your fifth gear is a 0.67. Here is what I found:

1828 rpms at 70 mph with your 3.92s
1912 rpms at 70 mph with 4.10s
2126 rpms at 70 mph with 4.562

If you want the hole shot and can live with 2126 rpms on the hwy then I say go for the 4.56s.

Hope this helps and btw if you do a gear sway let me know and I'll buy your rear axle gear.
