As for putting a 5.9 in the 1500 chassis, I'm sure it could be done but I seriously doubt it would be cost effective and you may never get the truck to ride or handle like it should.
I am only using the 1500 for light towing mostly but do pull a boat and horse trailer at times.
The Hemi is quick and better than the old one, I had a 2002 , but they still can't pull there weight in paper sacks.
I pulled my horse trailer from Portland , Or to the coast and the MPG was only 8 . Around town I get 13.5 average and 14-15 hwy.
With my 5.9 on the hwy I was getting 23-25 MPG in a 2500.
When I bought a 2007 2500 with the new 6.7 I only got 10-12 MPG when it would run.
I like my 1500 but not the motor . That's my problem .
Thanks to everyone for the help ,we will see how the story ends.
