I don't think it's gonna help ya . If your running the 5.9 theres not much you can do to better it . Just inherant to chew up gas .

Not that I'm disagreeing with Remerson and Tom (they both have way more knowledge than me), but some on here will say if you have relatively flat terrain you're mileage will increase. The argument is that sure you'll be running at a higher RPM at the same speed, but the engine will be doing less work, therefore less fuel consumption.

i dont think that ur goin 2 have 2 worry bout the truck eatin up 2 much more mpg cuz the sport and offroad ran 4:10 gears. since u have 285s the rpms will b a few hundred above what ur runin now. its goin 2 help with climbin hills and pullin. but goin from 3:55 2 4:10 will throw ur speeddo off, so if u plan on doin the gear swap, than plan on buyin a tuner down the road 2 reprogram ur ecu 4 thos gears.

i switched from 3.55 to 3.92 when i put thirty fives on my truck i ofcourse jumped from the stock tire size like 31s i think. i dont believe you have to adjust the speedo though because doesnt the sensor for the ring gear go directly to the speedo you only have to adjust ur speedo if your going to a bigger or smaller tire, i have a newer body style so it could very well be different....i am also suffereing from running the larger tires, however i noticed that when i have stock size tires in the winter my revs go up but my fuel mileage stays about the same...ofcourse much more power than with the thirty fives, i was considering going to 4.56 gears but thats would make the winter time wayyyy too bad on gas....or would it?

well i have a 2000 3500 4x4 cc with the 360 in it and 4.10's 9-10mpg on a good day but no real complaints she runs like a tank will pull just about anything but she sure likes the gas 360 arn't real gas friendly engins anyways put 4.10's or lower in the mix the mileage drop for sure but i think you would be a lot more happy with it!!
