Question Erratic idle and not shifting out of 2nd

Here's what I've got, I've owned this 97 ram 4x4 5.2L w/250,000miles! from day one, Tranny was replace with new one about 5yrs ago, The other day my check engine light came on and I noticed that my idle dropped to like 500 and below, it wanted to stall out but I gave it alittle throttle and when I gave it the gas from a dead start it didn't respond, my tac was at 2k and my spedo was reading 5-10mph. and it wouldn't shift out of 2nd. gear. I first gave it a shot(half can of Carb cleaner ) and the idle stayed at about 1000. I changed the IAC, & cleaned the throttle body, I noticed it had a heavier than normal build up of carb gunk, as though I had an oil leak internally but no smoke from exhaust and externally I have no oil leak either. I checked my oil and I was down 2qts.!! Did the whole oil change thing, put everything back together and my idle is now erratic, starting at 1000, 5sec later 1200, 5sec later dropping to 1000 again, and 3-5sec later dropping to 500 and then back to 1000? took it for a test run and nothing changed same as before? Maybe the MAP OR TPS??? any ideas I'm at a loss?

You need to replace the plenum pan gasket in the intake for starters and also get the P codes from the PCM.
