Default factory alarm question

My 2010 hemi came with a remote start alarm. my problem is that i cant get it to come on. i tried sitting in the truck and pressing the lock doors on the fob to engage it. when i do this there is a red light indicator for the alarm that starts to blink but when i open the door from either seat the alarm doesnt do a thing. no horn sound or nothing. what am i doing wrong? any suggestions?

1) Roll down driver window. (or any window should work)
2) Lock Ram with FOB
3) Wait a few seconds.
4) Reach in driver window/door and feel for door handle
5) Lift and BAM....alarm should sound.

Don't feel dumb.....feel smarter! Now you know, and that's knowledge and experience, which one day will be used to help someone else. I went through a similar thing with my first Ram that had an alarm. later I noted the red light on the dash changes the way/rate it blinks after a short while. It appears to have an 'Exit Delay'.

Is there a way to add the alarm feature? My Big Horn did not come with the alarm feature. Shold be plug and play also? No? Would it have to be activated by the dealer like if you install factory fogs or an auto start?

Personally, i would take your truck to a shop that sells Viper alarms, they usually have other the brands too, if you don't have the key FOB start, they have an alarm that you can start your vehicle from outside or even better in the house, letting the A/C run before you climb in, the Viper alarms are cheaper & better than anything that Dodge has, in my opinion.

Just look for an ALARM & Audio shop that has classics & hot rods being worked on, that will be the best shop in town, word of mouth made the business, not a contract from a new car dealer
by the way, those alarm & audio shops can buy & install the Dodge systems for less than the dealership can, they just have to order the part, just like dodge does
another thing to think about, Dodge has 2 systems for our newer Rams, 1 is what i call the Luxury system with a GREEN flashing light that no one passing by on the darkest of nights can see unless they know where to look.
the 2nd alarm has a BLUE flashing light, it flashes a bit brighter
I had my radio guy install a BLUE LED that lights up the whole cab at night, so everyone knows that i have a alarm & that its set

this is what the junky Dodge Ram system looks like in my truck, its the dim green light, its the ugly blob of plastic that they screwed into my dash

this is the Blue LED above the 115 V .
it lights up the whole cab when it flashes, its tied into the dodge alarm system

Good hunting
