Default Stereo install help please.

All right, I went to best buy to get a wiring harness for my 1996 dodge ram 1500. I bought the one they gave me, got home, and now I'm stuck. This is my first time doing a stereo install, so maybe I'm just being dumb lol.

This is the harness I bought from best buy.

This is the piece that plugs into the head unit itself.

and this is what I started with.

Did I get the wrong harness, or am I just dumb?

P.S. Sorry about the huge pics.

It looks like a part of the old head unit is still connected to the connecters.

It all looks correct to me. I do agree that it looks like another adapter is on the factory harnesses though, might try removing them if they don't plug into your new harnesses. Best thing is to wire the two Dodge connectors to your aftermarket unit harness while everything is easy to access. Then you can make sure connections are good, taped, soldered, heat shrinked (whatever your preference) and then everything will just plug right in! Grey to grey, black to black, and then you're jamming!

Chithead it looks like when he pulled the connecters from the old head unit the inner part came with it. He has the right connecter from Best Buy.They should be male(Best Buy connecter) to female(connecters in dash)

aMisfit if you take a small screw driver and lift up on the u shaped clip on the connecters in the dash that piece should come off, then the ones from Best Buy will work.

be sure to get power to the pink wire(basically the optional amp wire on the harness, or the ignition wire on the harness) the pink wire is the built in amp to turn the speakers on
