Around here our dealers sell Jeeps and Rams with lift kits, exhausts and CAI's. They are all MOPAR accessories and are covered around here.

Maddog hit the nail on the head. This guy may be your friend but he is full of shit. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is pretty specific in it's language to say that, for an after-market part to have a negative effect on warranty, it must be clear that the part be responsible for related failure.

For example, the addition of a smaller diameter after-market supercharger pulley, on a car that was factory equipped with a blower, could be faulted for the premature failure of a blower (due to increased RPM, boost pressure, increased operating temp, etc.). But the same blower pulley could not be faulted for the premature failure of a water pump. Accordingly, the dealer cannot arbitrarily decide that your vehicle's warranty on the whole is void due to the addition of a few after-market parts.

SEMA has spent a piss-load of money fighting crap like this for years. If the dealers were allowed to do this sort of thing it would literally kill the after-market parts industry, never mind screw a whole lot of consumers.

The dealers bank on folks ignorance of their rights. To quote the infamous Clint Eastwood from the film Heartbreak Ridge, "Don't give the prick the satisfaction." If he says something along those lines again you might casually counter with something along the lines of, "The Magnuson-Moss Act states otherwise."

I just want to mention that a lot of people come on the site and ask the same question and say that they have been told that if they touch anything on their truck with an aftermarket part, that it will completely void the warranty on their truck. They cannot pull the entire warranty on the truck, it's just not true. If that were the case you would have to only use oil from the dealer, tires from the dealer, oh and why not start buying gasoline and diesel from the dealer too. Some service advisors or managers are full of sh#@ and that's why I dislike going to dealers to either buy or service a car or truck when there's a problem.

Why don't you take him a copy of the Magnuson Moss Act and tell him to read it and then tell you if he can void your warranty.

Doubt they will warranty it if you mod it like that, but I get your point.

I agree with you on that! If it's sold as a MOPAR accessory then how could it void the warranty? It's designed to work with your vehicle by the same people who made your vehicle. Sounds like he is talking out of his arse on this one.

Hes full of it. and you can change your throttle body and they wont know the diff. Modern muscle has bigger throttle bodies and they have a mopar part # on them so theyd never know.

If it's labeled for off road use only, it can void the warranty.

Well from reading alot of your posts you obviously have a fair bit more knowledge of the chrysler/dodge/mopar workings than I, is there many MOPAR products that are labeled for off road use only??
