Talking Seatbelt warning beeper from Hell.

Quick question, recently got a new 2010, 1500. Previously had an 05. Anyway on the 05 there was a way of turning the seat belts warning beeper off using the keys. It's not that I mind wearing the belt when I'm going for a long ride, but I live in a small town and if I'm just going to the store etc. it is really annoying. Is there a way to silence the warning in the 10's? Thanks.

Good question! I found the details for that on my '07 by reading, then re-reading, the owners manual. It was buried in the section on seat belt operation.

Here is what the 2010 Ram Owners Manual says:

Enhanced Seat Belt Use Reminder System (BeltAlert)

If the driver's seat belt has not been buckled with 60 seconds of starting the vehicle or if the vehicle speed is greater than 5MPH, the BeltAlert system will alert the driver to buckle the seat belt.

<skip>

BeltAlert can be enabled or disabled by your authorized dealer or by performing the following procedure:

NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first 60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON or START position. Chrysler Group LLC does not recommend deactivating BeltAlert.

1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in the OFF/LOCK position, buckle the driver's seat belt.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for the Seat Belt Reminder Light to turn off.

3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 60 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.

NOTE: Watch for the Seat Belt Reminder Light to turn on while the seat belt retracts and turn off when re-buckling the seat belt.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

NOTE: Although BeltAlert has been deactivated, the Seat Belt Reminder Light will continue to illuminate while the driver's seat belt remains unbuckled or unretreacted.

Operators Manual - Page 49
Follow the steps 'Exactly'....if it doesn't work, check to see which step(s) you didn't do right. If it still doesn't work, check to see which step(s) you didn't do right. If it still doesn't work, get someone else to read the steps, and tell you where your making the mistake.

Yup...bin dare

I couldn't agree with you more!
Having said that, I have turned off the belt minded 'Dinger' on mine....it is a work related thing. I setup equipment at country fairs, and drive the truck a couple of hundred feet, stop, get out, unload equipment from box, then drive a couple hundred feet....repeat many times in 15 minutes. I often reach speeds of 5-10mph....just enough to set off the dinger. In this scenario, if I hit something worthy of seat belts, it means I had a heart attack....put the pedal to metal.....drove about 1/4 mi at WOT and hit a tree or building. In that scenario, I'd be much more worried about the other people than my own well being, so have vowed not to have a heart attack while driving across a fair grounds.
If I am 'NOT' delivering equipment in short hops, I always wear my seat belt....and to be honest, I even accidentally put it on many times to drive 50 feet, and usually half strangle myself on attempted exit. Wearing my seat belt IS a habit....remembering to leave it unbuckled is a conscience effort....emphasis on effort!

While I can't speak for It173, there are situations where the audible reminder is not necessarily required. After all, you can NOT turn off the visual reminder.
