Default EGR Delete

Is it possible to delete the EGR on a '96 5.9?

What would be the benefits of removing the EGR?

I just checked Rock Auto . They show a gasket but no valve . I'll have to look at my truck again . I don't think it has one .

Dodge stopped putting them on the '97+ Ram 5.9's. the '94-'96 has them. That is why the Hughes Air Gap and the Mopar M1 intake manifold have the EGR valve holes in them.

I think you can purchase the M1 with or without egr . I would leave it on there . Especially if you live in a state that has emission tests and verify equipment to be there . It's not gonna hurt anything .

The M1 is almost $100 cheaper without the EGR ports.

Plus, we don't have emissions testing here. If there isn't a need for it, I don't mind removing it. Just something else expensive to go wrong in the future.

Yea, no kidding.

I know that when they do mess up, the engine acts like it has a large vacuum leak (which it does if the EGR tube breaks).
