Default CAI Installed, now time for the Exhaust

I installed the AFE CAI on Wednesday. My first observations
1. Truck seems to be lighter and more responsive
2. I truck has a little more growl, nothing anyone who hasn't driven my truck would probably notice.
3. Haven't been able to gauge anything, other than when you punch it she seems to growl a little and take off quicker.

I have decided on an exhaust, local shop quoted me $129.00 + tax to install a Flowmaster 50 Delta Flow, si/so, keeping factory pipes with resonators.

I decided on this one after listening over and over again to clips on you tube, magnaflow, and flowmaster websites. I found a couple of trucks that are si/so with the 50 and it sounded nice. Plus the 40s seemed a tad on the loud side for my tastes and although they sound nice, just a tad loud for me. I am still fearful of the drone. I hope that with keeping the resonators installed, coupled with the 50, it is still agressive enough sounding but elminates the drone. I hope it sounds better than stock.

According to this shop and another, they are confused as to why I would want to swap out the "y pipe" though. They both stated the same thing, it won't make a difference in the flow. Thoughts.....

Cool man, any pics of the CAI? Definitely want to hear how your exhaust sounds once you get it installed!

If the Y pipe isn't crimped or flattened, it should be good. But if it is, get a nice mandrel bent replacement.

Took a closer look at my 4th Gen Y pipe the other day,,,, The 2 pipes come together into a pipe thats considerably larger than the 3 inch exhaust, This larger pipe is only about 1 -2 inches long before it reduces down to 3",,,

Did the 3rd Gens and/or prior Y pipes have this 'reducer/collector' as part of the y pipe, or did they just cram both head pipes straight into the exhaust?
