Just wondering how many of you out there opted for the Manual transmission by choice and settled instead for a non Hemi motor instead. Personally I don't buy anything automatic. And having 80 horses less and the ability to actually experience the true driving experience was worth it in my book.
Anyone else feel the same way? And was it a sacrifice for you? For me, it seems a shame that a truly great engine was hampered by the fact that it did not come with a standard transmission. And it probably saved me a few grand in the process. My truck came in at a price so good, that the dealer was unable to negotiate any lower. Or so they tell me...
I bought a 2008 1500 trx4 4.7L short box. And without all the heavy stuff on the more heavy duty trucks, it feels very responsive and quite fast when it needs to be. Sometimes I feel it would be faster than a heavier Hemi for that reason. And I feel like the dealer paid me to drive it away simply because of the tranny that apparently no one wants. My brother had to wait to have his 2010 3500 CTD shipped to him for the same reason.
I'll miss the Hemi badge on the side, and I look over at another similar RAM with that badge with more than a little regret, but I shift up or down and whine it out as I want to, and I feel the engine do what I want instead of what it wants to and the feeling of regret goes away pretty quickly. Anyone else driving a 4.7 for the same reason?
