Hello and welcome!
I am really sorry I don't have an answer for you but I didn't want to think you were being ignored! I hope someone here does have help for you! Glad to have you here, post us some pictures of your truck!

I just found this on the net:

The P0406 sets when the EGR position sensor's signal return is the same as or higher then reference voltage. Without doing the actual tests on the circuit; I would say that the EGR position sensor is likely at fault. I’ve had to replace a number of valve/sensor assemblies for this reason.
As for an extended emissions warranty, call the dealer with your VIN # and mileage and they’ll tell you whether there is any coverage for this.

Maybe this will help?

I not positive about this but I thought emission parts were warranty for 70k miles or 7 years because of federal guidelines.

well, here's some FYI for all.... make sure to check the EGR pipe where it goes into the back of the intake.... mmmmm hmmm when I went to put the old EGR back in I notice that the cheap clip that holds the pipe in the back of the intake let the pipe fall out.. So, far as I can tell THAT was my issue of why it wouldn't run.. OLD SCHOOL vacuum leak I call it. Seems to run fine now.

Hi there, I also have an 06 hemi with 80k miles and now have the same trouble code but no symptoms yet. I still want to replace the EGR Sensor before I start with the symptoms. Where did u get the part, and was it easy to install? Where is the sensor located?

Thanks for any help

I know this post is old but I wanted to answer the question for anyone else who has this prob.

The EGR is located at the front of the engine. It is accessed from the top of the engine. It is on the left hand side as you look at the motor from the front. It is just to the left and below the alternator. I thought it was the coil when I first looked at it because that was where the coil was on my 318. HTH.
