well sounds like what my truck did sounded like air sucking and would idle but give it gas and it falls on it face it turned out to be a clogged cat converter, gutted it and welded it back up and works fine

well...forgot to update. My dad had a new exhaust put on it, and, while the cat back was off, we decided to check out the cat, it had nothing in it. And a bunch of black soot was shooting out the exhaust on its way to the exhaust shop...and, its been running good ever since.

So...I think it may have been the cat was clogged, and it cleaned itself out.

It still acts like someone pulled the plug at higher RPMs though...like its not getting enough fuel or something. But, it has a new fuel pump...not quite sure whats going on there.

But...running good until it started doing the above.

Still not as good as my SS/T though...lol I passed him spinning tires

Sounds like the up-stream O2 sensor to me... If not that, the fuel pump... Could have sucked up some bad stuff from sitting in the pasture so long with fuel in the tank...

i had an 84 half ton that ran great most of the time but every so often it would just lack power and stall while driving, it had sat for some time as well, i changed everything needle and seats (carbureted), fuel filter and pump only to find that the pick up tube in the gas tank was plugged, you have a boot on the end of that tube that likes to plug up so before buying a bunch of sensors check fuel pressure. i`d start with a filter(cheap and easy to change)
