Default 2001 Ram 1500 5.2 Shifting/Transmission Problems

I have a 2001 Ram 1500 5.2 L Auto and have run into an intermittent shifting problem that has only happened when I am hauling my 24 ft 5th Wheel Trailer.

The problem has shown up after going over a piece of rough road at slow speed and once it appeared after the vehicle going into passing gear (Downshift).

1. The transmission will down shift early and down shift two gears (2nd Gear) on a grade where it would normally only drop one gear.
2. The transmission will then hang in second gear for an excessive period.
3. It will not up shift even if I let off the throttle on the down slope.
4. When it decides to shift (throttle on or off) it shifts very harshly on the up shift to 3rd and again when going into 4th.
5. An error code P1763 showed up on my scanner but did not give me a check engine light.
This condition will disappear as I drive and the truck will operate very normally. Previous to the problem I had the fluid and filter changed and added Lucas transmission conditioner (just normal maintenance thing). THE EXPERIENCE I've HAD WITH TRANSMISSION SHOPS IN OUR AREA IS THAT ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS OVERHAUL THE TRANSMISSION AND ARE NOT INTERESTED IN FIXING A PARTICULAR PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I don't mind paying for an overhaul if necessary but hate to pay for unnecessary repairs.
Has anybody any light to put onto this problem.
