Question 5.9 HDC vs. LDC

I have a 2000 / 2500. I bought it used. I think the engine was replaced before I bought it with a LDC engine. What are the major differences between the 2 engines besides the belt tensioner. Is it a different transmision also and what would I look for to see if I also have a LDC transmision. I am looking to increase horse power and upgrade the transmision in the future. Do I buy crate engine and tran, or rebuild what I have? Thanks for the help.

You should be able to call your dealership and give them your vin. They can run that and pull up your build sheet. Some people have found theirs under the passenger seat or in the glovebox, also.
