Default transmission noise

I have an '01 Ram 5.9 automatic.About a year ago it started making a scratchy, scrapy noise on takeoff. If I took off fast it didn't do it. If I took off real slow it wouldn't do it. It only made the noise at a normal takeoff. Changed fluid and filter and everything looked normal. It used to do this every now and then. It is becoming more and more frequent now. The truck doesn't really hesitate when it does this, it shifts normally when driving and I'm not getting any codes coming up. What would cause this and am I causing more damage by still driving it? I would greatly appreciate any help with this! Thanks!

Are you sure the noise is coming from the tranny and not somewhere else?

It's possible..I guess it could be the transfer case...I'm not sure what else it could be..it feels like it's coming from that general area
