Hey guys, I am a plumber by trade. PVC in either 3 or 4 inch diameter would work theoretically speaking but watch the different weights on the pipes. We use a 4 inch thin wall for sewer that would be light enough and seal well with a good glue. The schedule 40 and heaver pipe rated for pressure would be really heavy under the hood.

Just a thought as I like the double air intake idea.

Thanks guys, once i get back in school and have use of the shop, i'll try and plan something up, the biggest problem is finding or making a dual intake hat.

Schedule 30 or 40? PVC?

I would worry about water with the pipes down near the fog lamps, but I think two pipes are much better than one there. If you get some water near there with two, the engine is going to suck in air from the clear one instead of the wet one. If you put one straw in water and one outside the glass and suck through both, you won't get any water because it is easier to pull in more air from the other straw.

The problem would be when both get soaked and both are sucking in water, but that is the risk you take with putting the pipes that low. Hopefully having two would eliminate most of the problems.

Default might werk but what about fuel mileage???

just was thinking of this same idea a couple days ago. talking to my buddy he brought up the point that while increasing hp it would decrease mpg dramatically. suggested that I use a 3 or 4 inch pipe instead of dual CAI, but I still like the idea of the dual intake. I am gonna try an off shoot idea using a single intake pipe but having a Y pipe on the tip of the filter and a piece of flex tube on both sides of the radiator. I should have it mostly done saturday without the heat shield.

Question

So I just finished my diy "Ram Air" CAI. Using stock air box I enlarged the exsisting inlet hole to acomodate a 4" 45 pvc elbow angled towards a clear tight path inbetween the radiator n inner wheel well. I coupled it to a schedule 40 "Thicker n Heavier" PVC pipe that ended bout 2" above fog light were it coupled to a 6" to 4" cone shape aluminum hvac style reducer / coupler. FINALLY a 90 HVAC scoop That had a 6" Inlet on one end and 12"L 10"W 2.5"H rectangle on other end of the " L " shape scoop. Top of scoop was flush w/ bottom of bumper. I had to cut away a 12" long piece of plastic trim that clips on underneath bumper so air could pass directly into scoop n attached a black 13L 2.5H metal screen on my black trim for a less noticeable gapping rectangular air scoop that looks OEM!!! hehehe. PICS WILL FOLLOW.
