Question Need FAST help!! Noob question!!!

Hey guys I just bought a 2000 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.9 in it, the doghouse was off the truck and I just got it together, well I have a really dumb question (I assume it's dumb...) How do the transmission lines run? Do they just run to the aluminum cooler or to the radiator then the cooler??? I know it's probably a pretty dumb question, just soooo close to getting it done before it gets dark and can't find it anywhere... some one please, please help fast!!

thanks in advance!

I would expect them to run to the trans cooler section of the rad, then to an external cooler if you have one. Although it has been brought to my attention more than once that technology has changed a few things in the decade+, I am unaware of the trans cooler system changing much. If you have cooler line fittings on the bottom (or side) of the rad, and an external cooler, then I would say trans output to rad, then to cooler and return to trans. Might be out to lunch, but this is how I did it for years on older (pre 95) vehicles with excellent results.

well got that figured out... but now, I drove it to work, and on the way home the voltage gauge dropped all of a sudden (not slow) so I thought the battery cable fell off, i tightened the connections and had to jump it, and now it wont stay running... guessing alternator quit all at once, theres no other voltage regulator, correct?

Just to be sure, when you say it won't stay running, is that at idle? Its entirely possible for a dead battery to be the problem if it won't idle.

Best to get both the battery and alternator tested before you spend the $$, if you can get to Autozone or the like.

I took both in and had them tested, does the black wire from the alternator run to the fuse box or is it ground? lmao...
