Default Running 38's on a dana 44

I'm running 38's on my 2000 dodge ram 1500 single cab short bed i got an 8 in lift other than that its bone stock i bought it this way a couple of weeks ago. I'll be beating this piss out of it in the near future mostly muddin. I'm runnin 3.55 gears no lockers and two leaky axles seals (one front and rear on the right side) i know i'll be breaking the front axles shafts sooner than later does anyone know where i can get better shafts for my dana 44? I've searched to no end only to find cheap stock replacements and 200 dollar u joints. Now before you say it i'm not swapping in a dana 60 not doing it maybe in the rear when i beef up the little 318 but not in the front and i'm not running smaller tires these grapplers weren't cheap and it would look weird. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum,
I don't know if your going have a lot of axle issues. With a stock 318 and 3.55 gears, the Dana 44 axles might just survive! Now if you had 4.56 gears, that would be a different story.
OK, back on topic - Axle/drivetrain parts - Check out one of our site vendors - APU (Automotive Parts Unlimited); They have a lot of drivetrain parts and can likely help you out. They are in the vendor section of the main page. Here's a link - http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53

This forum is full of great looking trucks; packed with great mod ideas and there are loads of knowledgeable and experienced people here.

AND - We all like pix! Got any to share?

Enjoy the Z!

so picture posted. Dana 44 idea throw out the window. Leaf sprung Dana 60 with 4.10s and whatever steering i can come up with going in in the near future. I'm pulling apart the front axle and rear axle in a a few weeks to get rid of the leaking seals a bad u joint and a bad bearing going to address the problems with running 38's on half ton suspension (mainly the 8 hrs it takes to go through the front axle) and posted it on here a step my step instructional(hopefully)

A well built 44 will survive 38's on open diffs and mud, locked and crawlin rocks different story. Get some chromoly shafts inners and outters, some quailty u-joints (high end spicer or splurge on some ctm rebuildables) and it will survive.

they don't make chrome alloy shafts for my front end is the problem i've been having i'm learning to rebuild axles in a week or so and saving my money for 4.56 gears (want 4.88 but they are to big for my carrier) so i can get that all important mpgs back up and dana 60's are going in cause the truck is completely stock the rear end wont last long with 300 ponies at the wheels(next project)
