Default bang in reverse

the problem being that when it was in neutral, and id throw it in reverse you could hear a loud bang. you could feel it through the truck cab. does anyone know what this could be , had my rear end rebuild, and did not help. Any sugestions ?

I would think engine/trans mounts or perhaps some excessive slop in the transfer case chain. My last guess would be in the trans itself.

Default bang in reverse

i think it is worse if the truck is parked up the hill. and feels like there is pressure on the wheels, then you can hear it a lot only when going from park to reverse, no problems changing gear while driving, same thing in 2x or 4x4 ,

If you can get someone to help you, have them shift between reverse and drive while you try to narrow down where the noise is coming from.

When you park on a hill are you using your park brake ? If not your putting alot of pressure on the park paw in the trans . It takes alot of force to disengage the paw at that point and when it does that will make alot of noise .
