Default glasspack clarification

Hey everyone, I was reading a thread about what muffler to use, and Is a glasspack going to pass emissions. Someone stated they had just installed a cherrybomb on their ride and say they are only good for disturbing the neighborhood and you get no hp gains. Is this true? I've got a shorty cherry bomb on mine and I was under the assumption that because it flows straight thru no baffles/chambers=more performance. Some more info would be great.

If the Cherry Bomb significantly reduces backpressure, it's good for higher RPM flow but it will rob you of low end torque. And that's not a good thing. You do need some low end torque off the line to move the truck.

As far as emissions go, that's pretty much dictated by your local laws and emissions requirements. However, in my experience, you can have what you like as long as your emissions equipment is in place and functioning correctly, i.e., no engine codes.

Most glasspacks are illegal because of how loud they are . They don't effect emissions . They aren't real good flowing air . If they were don't you think race cars would be running them .

This should give some idea about glasspacks to y'all. I have ran them in the past, but I wouldn't run them now.
The glasspack infor is in Blue, and my fav muffler is in red
Mufflers do not have anything to do with emissions. All of the state's I have researched laws on state that a muffler must be in place and in good working order, and be less than the allowable noise (Db) levels. The noise levels is what you should be concerned about as far as legality, as any aftermarket muffler is technically legal as far as emissions (including "race" mufflers) but may not meet your states noise restriction laws.
