Default Remote starter for 81 ram D250

Hell all,

I'm new to this forum and the dodge world, I just brought a ram D250 81 model.

I was lucky to find one in half decent shape. anyway my question!

does anyone know if a remote starter can be fitted? as i live in northern Ontario, Canada, and I need to be at work at 5am in winter I would like to try and fit one. The problem is i have been told different things from "No dont bother" to "yeah sure easy fit to "yeah but you need to fit a trunk release actuator to the carby to get it to start"

so as you can see a fair difference in opinions!

does anyone have any other opinions??

thanks.

Welcome to the Z. Got any pics of your Ram? We LOVE pics of Rams.

In the US car alarm shops are usually the best places to get a remote start installed. Have you talked to one up there?

I second what RootBeer said. I haven't tried to fit one to that vintage vehicle and I suspect it would be very complicated as you would have to find a way to open the choke on the carb before starting the truck, not to mention some like a few pumps of the pedal before you start them. Not sure how you'd mimic that with a remote start system.

thanks for the reply,

no pics yet but they will come soon.

I did try an alarm shop, they suggested just fitting one, I came back with what if it needs the throttle pumped to which he looked at me with a blank stare after which I assumed that he didnt know what a carby was, he did only look like he was 15, lol

Yeah that's what i thought to Maddog.

i think thats why one guy said use a trunk actuator to pump the throttle.

if its to much hasstle ill just buy an inline heater and an oil heater, but it does get to -35c where i live
