I'm interested to know how you made that heat shield and what from. Not half bad.

I'm thinking it's a homemade fiberglass or resin fitting? More info please.

looks...interesting, but the intake tube adds a LOT of flow resistance to the incomming air and could be detrimental.

The heat shield was a piece of aluminum air duct cut and glued together with a mix of glue and quick steel. But the flex tube is attached to the throttle body by a 3in to 4in plumbing coupler I found at lowes. No modifications to it, just took the old air hat off and used the same clamp to attach it to the throttle body, then I used a mix of silicone and quick steel on the outside of it to to seal the flex to it. First time doin anything like this without an actual clue as to what I was doin or whether it would work or not.

As for the restriction I tried a ram air typeish idea where there's a couple hoses goin into the front of the filter, I dont actually know whether that does anything yet, but thats why I'm also goin to start school for it in a couple months to be better able to tell if its a good idea or not. have a noticed a slight increase in mpg and power(although that may be cause I punch it a bit harder cause it sounds a bit louder).

I think I spent 40 bucks for the filter and another 25 or 30 for the rest of the stuff.

you know....If you take the snorkel from your stock air cleaner off from the fender wall and adjust it down to the same position you have the air intake at and drop a K&N drop-in filter you will get the same result?!
