Default Under Hood "push-button" sensor question

i have a 2009 dodge ram 1500. i want to install some behind the grille lights and i purchased the hella black magic 500's. well, come to find out they are a little bigger than i expected and they wont quite fit where it seems like most people put them on the rad support. so then i determined i could fabricate a bracket to raise them and they would be in the upper half of the grille. but then i ran into this thing pictured. it is some sort of push buttom sensor that is depressed when the hood is closed (picture 2). it is located on the drivers half and has a prong attached to the actual hood. anybody know what it is? i didnt have any warning light or msg on the dashboard with hood open or closed when playing with it.

i just wonder if i can remove from its current location and just have it manually depressed at all times....

thanks for any feedback

It's called the hood ajar switch. If you have remote start, it has to be in place and functional.

You could move it to a position where it will still be depressed with the hood closed. As long as it is depressed the remote start will still work
