Default HID Conversion

I am thinking about converting my 2010 Ram 1500 with headlights to HID on the low beams. Suggestions? Also how do you access the bulbs? The manual appears to be a bit vague. Thanks in advance.

Not sure how you access the bulbs but I suspect getting to them requires you pull the headlight capsule. There are some threads (sorry, don't have the links at my fingertips on the 2010 headlight removal but they are there) in the Custom Lighting section that may help.

As far as the kit themselves, don't go cheap. For some reason these trucks have some touchy electrical systems. Get a good kit and if you want a couple of suggestions, check with 3B Specialties or AAC, one of our supporting vendors here. They are great to deal with!

I've read the manual on changing the headlight bulbs and you're right, its a lousy how-to. You have to pull the grill then unbolt it from the back side via the panel in the front wheel well. Next pull the assembly. Dumb design if you ask me.

A good kit should have good instructions on how to remove the old and put in the new.

Citabria, just received my HID conversion for Low-beam (H11) and fog (9005/9145) from 3B Specialties, good prices and fast service. No vehicle specific instructions. Will probably attempt this weekend. Will let you know.

if you are going to get the low beam and fogs then 3B Spec would be the place to go.

Without his pictures on how to get to the lights and suggestions about where to install the ballasts, I would still be in the shop.

Low beams were completed in under two hours with 4 coffee breaks (hey it was a Saturday morning) and the fogs took 1 hour and a phone call to TX because one fog did not work. Turns out the connector that goes into the factory harness can go in either way, flipped it and now works great.

Cannot say enough good things about 3B Specialties. Outstanding and fast service, answered the phone on a Saturday and great prices. To top it off, I did not realize I snapped one of the tabs off a low beam causing it to tilt up. Definitely my fault, but Hanh gave me a discount on a replacement pair of bulbs. Not bad to have a spare around.

My only regret was not getting the high beams!
