Default radiator

i just replaced the radiator and thermostat in my 98 ram 1500. my quandry is, after refilling the system and running for at least 45 minutes, my lower radiator hose is still cold and the radiator does not build pressure. it acts as if i have an air lock. the thermostat is opening and closing as it should. is this possible

the stat is from napa............ the temp gage is reading normally, reaches 190 stat opens temp drops to about 160. it seems that when the stat opens the lower hose heats up, when it closes the hose cools down.

It's possible you could have air in the system. Are you positive that you have flow from the water pump and that the thermostat isn't in backward?

shouldn't be going down to 160 sounds like you have air in the system. let it run with the cap off and squeeze the hoses slowly and add coolant while doing it. \

Also how much coolant did you add? Did you take the water pump off at all?
